ASFA Point System & Title Requirements
Official point schedule and detailed requirements for earning ASFA Field Champion and Lure Courser of Merit titles.
Standard Point Schedule
Find the number of competing hounds across the top row.
Read down to First, Second, Third, or Fourth place for points earned.
Placements count toward titles only when earned over a qualifying hound.

A hound must defeat a qualifying hound in order to count as a placement towards title requirements.
The winner receives the higher number of points available from the Open, Field Champion or Veteran stake, but must defeat the winner of the other stake(s) in a run-off.
The BIF winner gets 4 points for each hound that has competed in BIF, plus regular stake points, up to 40 total points.
A single entry can earn a competitive first when it defeats a qualifying hound for Best of Breed or Best in Field.
Example: A hound places second in a stake/flight of 3 = 9 points.
ASFA Title Requirements
And must earn placements over a qualifying hound:
- Two (2) First placements, OR
- One (1) First and two (2) Second placements
And must earn placements over a qualifying hound:
- Two (2) First placements, OR
- One (1) First and two (2) Second placements
- Must already hold a Field Champion title.
- Requires four (4) additional First placements from the Field Champion stake over qualifying hounds.
- Must already hold a Veteran Field Champion title.
- Requires four (4) additional First placements from the Veteran Field Champion stake over qualifying hounds.
And must earn placements from Single stake over a qualifying hound:
- Two (2) First placements, OR
- One (1) First and two (2) Second placements
- Must already hold a TCP title.
- Requires four (4) additional First placements from the Single stake over qualifying hounds.
Titles for Lure Chasing Instinct (Large & Small)
Must attain 8 qualifying scores.
Must attain 20 qualifying scores.
And must earn placements over a qualifying hound:
- Two (2) First placements, OR
- One (1) First and two (2) Second placements
- Requires four (4) additional First placements from the Single stake over qualifying hounds.
Hound must be over the age of 7 and earn placements over a qualifying hound:
- Two (2) First placements, OR
- One (1) First and two (2) Second placements
- Hound must be over the age of 7 with the VLCC title.
- Requires four (4) additional First placements from the Veteran stake over qualifying hounds.
Requesting Hound Records
You can request your hound(s)' point standing without charge at any time by email from the ASFA Records Coordinator. If requesting by mail, please enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope for reply.
Please ensure you include the following information in your request:
- Breed
- Registration Number
- Registered Name
- Date of the last trial points were earned (if possible)
